How do you remember the filming of How the Princesses Wake in Telč and Roštejn?
"They were beautiful places and they still are today. Filming in a real castle is exciting. But it was cold there, I remember that well. I was always wrapped in a warm bedspread and I would throw it off just before we went on set. We stayed in a hotel on the square and walked through the arcade. I also recalled a memory of filming dinner - I was given a plate of fish and bones that night and it was cold and quite disgusting. Unfortunately, the shot was repeated several times and the fish was falling apart under my hands. I didn't explore Roštejn much. I had only one shooting day there. All I have left is the memory of the high stone walls."
One Telč resident recalled a situation when Mr. Hrušínský and Mr. Kraus climbed the ledge of the hotel to your room. But Mr Hrušínský fell and broke his femur. Do you also remember that situation?
"Unfortunately, I remember it well. We were playing hide-and-seek after the shoot. Pretty funny fun for a prince and princess. Well, Honza swung himself over the window frame onto the canopy at the Black Eagle Hotel. Unfortunately, the canopy was glass, and it cracked under Honza. He tumbled about 5 metres down into the restaurant. It was horrible."
Did you ever visit Telč or Roštejn after the filming? Which filming location did you like the most?
"Telč is still just as charming. I was there recently to read to the children in the library from my books and when I wandered into the castle park, the castellan recognized me and showed me around the castle, even though it was under renovation. We walked through all the places where I was filming. I even took a picture there. Unfortunately, I haven't been to Roštejn since then."
Do you visit the Highlands? Do you have a destination or a location in the Highlands that you like to go back to?
"We go to Havlíčkův Brod to play with the Puppets in the Hospital regularly, so I'm there a lot. I also have my friend Radka Matějčková nearby. I spent many summer days at her place in Babice, swimming in the quarries near Lipnice and in the ponds with rusty water. I also spent some time in Lipnica as the White Lady in the adapted film Let the Spirits Live."
