Les Miserables
Drama
France / Italy / Spain / Germany, 2000, 4x90 min
Victor Hugo wrote his novel Les Misérables over decades and only finished it in exile. Hugo conceived the story of Jean Valjean, who escaped from the galleys where he was sentenced for stealing bread, in five parts. None of his novels achieved such a stormy immediate response as Les Misérables. This film adaptation was co-produced by five countries and was also filmed at the castle in Ledč nad Sázavou.
